Our Rescue

Written by Olivia Albrecht / October 2018

Hurricane Florence raged through the Carolinas recently. People’s homes and possessions are ruined. Entire cities are flooded. The devastation is immense. The US Coast Guard, among others, have been rescuing people and animals from the flood waters. It’s times like these that you realize the power and destruction that God can create. He reminds us that He is in control of everything.

This most recent hurricane reminded me that not only do people need saving from actual flood waters, but we also need saving from spiritual flood waters. This can come in many forms. Maybe you are going through some type of trial: a loved one is sick, you recently found out you have cancer, or your day-to-day work and tasks are weighing down on you. Maybe you are living in some type of sin: you’re swearing because hey, everyone else is doing it. You’re living with your boyfriend or girlfriend because it’s easy. Whatever the struggle or trial may be, we need saving. We need help.

Well I have the best news for you. Help has come! We HAVE been saved from our desolate circumstances. Jesus came and rescued everyone from the flood waters of sin. He sacrificed himself so we can enjoy the glory of heaven one day. How cool is that?

Although there is destruction on this earth, remember that we have a loving Father who will rescue us. He’s the only one who can.

Psalm 46:8-10 Come behold the works of the LORD, Who has made desolations in the earth. He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariot in fire. Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!
