What We’re Thankful For (from all of you!) / November 26th 2015
As we close out the church year, considering all the blessings in our lives, let’s also remember the greatest blessing the Lord has given us, eternal salvation. In the coming church year, we will celebrate Christ’s humiliation in his his birth, perfect life, death, and finally his resurrection and exaltation. He did all of this out of love for us, to save us. This is truly the greatest blessing we could ask for, yet Christ has given it to us freely. For believers, every day is indeed a Happy Thanksgiving!
A huge thank you to everyone took a few moments out of their busy schedules to email us what they are thankful for. In all, the list was over 130 blessings that you’re thankful for! Above is a word collage (courtesy of worditout.com) in which font size indicates the frequency with which a blessing was mentioned. In addition, since many of you said some very nice things in your input, we are also including what you said below. Of course, this list is just the tip of the iceberg, but take look and consider just how richly the Lord has blessed us.
A Hymn of Thanksgiving
1 Now thank we all our God with heart and hands and voices,
who wondrous things has done, in whom his world rejoices;
who from our mothers’ arms has blessed us on our way
with countless gifts of love, and still is ours today.
2 O may this bounteous God through all our life be near us,
with ever joyful hearts and blessed peace to cheer us,
to keep us in his grace, and guide us when perplexed,
and free us from all ills of this world in the next.
3 All praise and thanks to God the Father now be given,
the Son and Spirit blest, who reign in highest heaven
the one eternal God, whom heaven and earth adore;
for thus it was, is now, and shall be evermore.
