The first year of The Witness was truly a blessed experience. You wrote and shared experiences that helped build one another up in the faith we hold so dear. That faith, Christ crucified for us sinners, is certainly put to the test as we face a secular environment on a daily basis. Whether through the classroom, from our peers, or in the workplace, efforts to undermine our confidence of salvation abound. Through The Witness, we as editors and hopefully you as readers, have had a community from which to find support when the temptation to doubt grows strong. As we begin a new year, we look forward to continuing to build one another up, making our Christian faith the cornerstone of our lives.
“For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him. Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.” -1 Thessalonians 5:9-11
And we’re back with a small project for all of you. Later this month we are hoping to put together a compilation article, featuring short paragraphs from each of you. The topic is “Standing Up for God.” Daily, we face situations in which those around us take God’s name in vain, accuse Him of letting bad things happen, and disregard what He has done for us. When these situations arise, how do you respond? What tips can you offer? Maybe you’ll share a time you stood up, or a time you maybe should have. The deadline is next Wednesday and it will only take a couple minutes, so we encourage you to email your short paragraph to firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible. Thank you for your help!
Lord’s blessings on the new year!
