Dear Witness, you are now entering the mission field.
The second year of The Witness concludes with this article, and these are the words we would like to leave you with, “You are now entering the mission field.” For months, you’ve walked along campus sidewalks or between office cubicles, but perhaps you haven’t thought of yourself as being in the mission field. Well, this summer, the Lord is sending you into the mission field.
1 Peter 3:15 says, “In your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.” Through your study of God’s Word, fellowship with friends and family, and what the Holy Spirit has taught you through The Witness, you are equipped to tell anyone that your Savior’s sacrifice gives you enduring faith and confidence in what is to come. After all, the great commission tells you to share the gospel everywhere, including wherever you are this summer. “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age,” (Matthew 28:19-20).
With that in mind, go. Go enter the mission field. Go this summer, whether it is on vacation, at work, or anywhere else. Let your light shine in your actions, and tell people why by sharing the Word. Go help The Witness prepare for another year through your writing, artwork, IT skills, or any other abilities the Lord blessed you with. Go out your door today, recognizing that the mission field is everywhere you go.
This summer, the Lord is sending you. You are now entering the mission field.
